Frames of Mind

My self-directed and original short, Frames of Mind, is the coming-of-age story of Finn, a young man feeling overwhelmed at a crossroads. Fast-approaching his high school graduation and feeling the carefreeness of his youth slip away, Finn grapples with the pressures of an increasingly more demanding world exacerbated by the oversaturation of today's information age. In search of an escape, Finn finds solace through the viewfinder of a camera, where he is not only able to slow down but capture and preserve these precious but fleeting moments.

Art is storytelling, and my preferred mediums are graphic design, photography, and film. Through my Senior Passion Project, I hope to leave my mark on the SSFS community, not unlike those who inspired me. Selfishly, I welcome the special opportunity to further my knowledge of cinematography. Selflessly, my desire is for those who watch my cinematic short to come away with a sense of the importance of the fleeting moments that pass us all by, often too quickly and unrecognized. Though we may chase ways to hold on to each moment a little longer, as Finn does with his photography, I believe we should all hold each other's hands a bit tighter and enjoy every second.
